Tenth Week of School

Week 10 of School – 10/21/19-10/25/19 – Churchill vs South San, Leadership Meeting, rehearsals with Mr. Hinshaw and Mr. Vollmar, guard sectionals, drumline performances, Comalander Stadium Rehearsal, dance team run through, 6thpayment due,

Superior Ratings for the Charger Band at UIL!  Congratulations, Band!  This is the toughest part of the season, ladies and gentlemen, when we are at the last 5-10% of clarity needed in our marching production.  That means you already are scoring a 90 -95 on your test and you have to dig deep for the last percentage.  We can do this Charger Band and you have a couple guests this week to help you along the way.

We will have a game at South San Stadium this week, so there will be no run through after school so we can quickly eat, get students to send off and immediately head out.  Moving quickly in need by all.  We will also be starting a new fundraiser soon with details to come in classes.

Congratulations Charger Band!  What a great and successful start to our competitive season!  Winning the Visual Competition Award and placing 3rd Overall is a big achievement.  At the start of the summer I told the ensemble that our goal was to not only make finals, but place in the top have at Finals.  While there were many gasps from the audience then, you took on the challenge and completed your goal.  Congrats to you and now it’s time to keep pushing for our mid and end of season performances. Please take time to thank all the parents that helped us get to and from safely on our trip.  From the Crew having everything set up, on the field and staying dry from the weather, to the food delivery team, water hydration team and our chaperones getting us to and from, you are all much appreciated.

Our 6 weeks grade check is this week and as great a success BOA was, we must have everyone eligible!  I DO NOT want to have a lose of students due to grades, so please be at tutorials and turn in your work. This is a busy week, so please plan ahead.

First Week of School

1st Week of School – 8/19/19-8/24/19

Welcome back to school!  This will be an exciting week with it being the start of a new school year. Check that you have all materials with you for rehearsal.  Nothing changes because of the start of school.  Materials are:  Band water jug (bring it to school filled), white t-shirt (no other color), athletic shorts and shoes, towel/yoga mat, hat, sunglasses, sunblock, all music and drill in a charged phone, instrument/equipment.  Plan to have outdoor and/or indoor rehearsals.  Please see the Google Calendar for details on events.

For new parents, the band hall will open by 7:45am.  Students can bring rehearsal materials then and put them in their locker or the designated drop off area in Band Hall 1.  It is open for practice and lessons in the mornings and during lunch.  Any items that were ordered, such as, shoes, travel t, etc. will be given out soon if they have not picked them up yet.  Please be patient as parents are working hard to get those items to you.

A goal from our program has for this year, it to have better participation in fundraisers which directly help with your obligations/fees.  The more we fundraise the more scholarships we can provide, the better equipment we can get, the more travel we can do, the more opportunities we have for our students!
