Summer Band Camp Week 1

Summer Band Camp Week 1 – 7/29/19-8/7/19

Good afternoon Charger Band! Summer Band is here!  We will start Monday with a Leadership Meeting in Band Hall 1, full student meeting in band hall 1, then onto a great day.  It is extremely important that everyone is at camp each day and on time.  There is much to learn and many opportunities for growth and all leadership and every student is important.  Our team must be present for one another to learn and be responsible.

General schedule is having the mornings for outdoor rehearsal, a one hour lunch break (bring sack lunch or parents can drop off food. If upperclassmen decide to go off campus like years past, they must be careful and return safely on time or loss off privilege will occur), afternoons will start with all state music masterclasses (have concert instrument) then to sub sectionals and end with full winds and percussion sectionals as the days go on.  Towards the end of the week will be some events and food and drink sales, so come prepared with cash! Also, it is a busy week so please follow details in the information below as well of list of items to bring.

PHYSICALS are due tomorrow.  Hold on to them until Mr. Espinoza picks them up from you one by one.  PARKING for band students will be a pickup and drop off/park in the ROTC lot.  Due to construction and other events, this is the current lot we will be in.  Band photos are taken this week.  Info and purchase info to come home this week from students. All students are in need of downloading: UDB app, for the cell phones.  This is used for learning marching drill.

MONDAY – PHYSICALS DUE! 

7:30am – Leadership Meeting in Band Hall 1

8:00am – Full student Meeting in Band Hall 1 and Summer Band Begins!

12:30-1:30pm – Lunch

1:30 – 3:30pm - masterclasses

6:00pm – Done for the day!  See ya

TUESDAY 

8:00am – Student meeting in band hall 1

11:30 – 12:30pm – Guard lunch

12:30 – 1:30pm – Band Lunch

1:30 – 3:30pm - masterclasses

3:30 – 5:00pm – Guard Dinner

6:00pm – Band rehearsal ends. See ya

6:30pm – leadership helps with dot painting on the field

8:00pm – Guard rehearsal ends. See ya

WEDNESDAY – Leadership Passoff Fight Song and School song to DM’s

8:00am – student meeting in band hall 1

11:30 – 12:30pm – Guard lunch

12:30 – 1:30pm – Band Lunch

1:30 – 3:30pm - masterclasses

3:30 – 5:00pm – Guard Dinner

6:00pm – Band rehearsal ends. See ya

6:00pm– Midwest percussion rehearsal

8:00pm – Guard/Percussion rehearsal ends. See ya

THURSDAY-Band Photo Day/UDB app learning day/Fight Song Passoff

8:00am – all student meet in band hall 1 to go over uniform care and

                  Getting dressed. Marching band must wear long ALL black 

                  Socks and and marching shoes.  If you do not own your pair

                  Of marching shoes yet, bring an all-black pair of shoes.

9:00am – Photos begin with individuals, sections, then panoramic

11:30 – 12:30pm – Guard lunch

12:30 – 1:30pm – Band Lunch

1:30-3:30pm - masterclasses

3:30 – 5:00pm – Guard Dinner

8:00pm – Guard/Percussion rehearsal ends. See ya

FRIDAY  - All paperwork due/School Song Passoff/Bradley Jazz selling lemonade/Cookie Dough Fundraiser

8:00am – Starting outside – do not be late

12:30-1:30pm – Lunch

1:30-3:30pm - masterclasses

3:30pm – Cookie Dough Fundraiser – All meet in BH1

5:00pm– BPA Volunteer Night

6:00pm – Rehearsal ends. See ya

SATURDAY-Tacky Tourist Day!/Midwest Percussion selling hotdogs, chips, drink & paletas

8:00am – Starting outside – do not be late

12:30-1:30pm – Percussion selling meals/Lunch

1:30-3:30pm – sectionals/masterclasses

6:00pm – Rehearsal ends, get some rest!

***STUDENTS:Please make sure you have: PHYSICALS, a filled insolated water jug-red preferred, white t-shirt, athletic shorts, low cut heal athletic shoes, hat, sunglasses, sun block, instruments (concert and marching), guard/perc equipment, towel or yoga mat for outdoor workouts, music, band binder w/ a pencil, fanny pack, sack lunch, tuner and metronome (can be an app on phone), smile and a great attitude!  Have the UDB app downloaded to learn drill.  Be ready to work and have fun!

***PARENTS AND STUDENTS: Please start using the google calendar for up to date Charger Band happenings.  You can sync the calendar to your smart phone by clicking the +google button at the bottom right of the calendar at www.wcchargerband.org.  Physicals are required from each student in order to participate in band an is due Monday.  Students will be bringing paperwork home Monday.
