Week 30 of School – 4/6/20 – 4/9/20 – Distance learning continues, Drum Major Auditions begin, Band Fee Drop off
Week 3 of distance learning is starting up and I hope all is well at home. If you have not already done so, I encourage you to start a daily routine for: your class work, practice time, excercise, family time and less Tiger King binge watching! If you have extra time on your hands, spend some of it getting stronger and better at your craft: wind instrument, guard/dance/spinning, percussion, jazz, etc. Take time to enjoy your family and stay safe and make good choices.
Students are to check in to every single class they have online. Do not assume you were seen in one class, so that takes care of the others. Please get assignments completed as those are one way of checking in. We have met with our leadership candidates via Zoom and are excited to get auditions started these next few weeks. Thank you, senior students, that are in the current leadership team. You have inspired many to step into your role and to continue to take the program to new heights. As a reminder, leadership candidates do have online deadlines coming up. Have a good week Charger Band and we will see you all real soon! Here is the info for the week:
MONDAY – FRIDAY
Week 3 of distance learning continues with all classes
Band Fee Dropoff
To align with the high school paper packet drop off/pick up time this week, we will now have Band Fee Drop Off on Wednesday, April 8th, from 12:00pm – 2:00pm. We will have the gate open to drive up, curbside, to the Band Hall/ROTC parking lot. Mr. Bean will meet you there to drop off band fees and answer any questions you may have.
Expectations in Band this week
Check in to each of your classes online. Complete the attendance questions/quizzes
Meeting times may have changed for Tuesday and Thursday sectionals/small ensemble PLAYING meetings in Zoom. Please have your instrument ready to go. Google Classroom should have your Zoom Meeting login requirements and/or Remind texts will go out.
If you would like a lesson or need tutoring times with band staff, please email them.
Instrumental Ensembles and Guard – have your playing/performing assignments turned in on time each week.
Jazz
There is now a Google Classroom set up for those interested in Jazz. Jazz Ensemble will be during the class day next year and if you are interested in that, you will find audition material via Google Classroom in the near future. For now, please join the online class to get some practice material that is set up for you. Jazz Google Classroom code is: 747lmja
Band events: Drum Major/Leadership Auditions
Drum Major Candidates – We have Good Friday off this week. Therefore, we will have auditions Thursday evening. We will have plenty of the time in the week to prepare but do see your google classroom for Zoom meeting times and more detail. If you have questions, please email Ms. Stevenson.
It was great to see all of you in the Zoom leadership meeting the other day. Leadership students will be expected to submit an online portfolio via Google Classroom as part of their audition. All online portfolios are due by April 6th. Details are in the Leadership Google Classroom page and feel free to get to work on that as soon as possible.
